The ICNet HAI case management and surveillance system has four key features:
- Web-enabled for easy and secure access throughout the healthcare facility.
- Automatic download of data from laboratory and hospital information systems via lectronic
interfaces.
- Alerts of user-defined critical events.
- Customized and on-demand data and graphical reporting.
ICNet facilitates the management and surveillance of hospital acquired infections at a local level, while enabling regional level urveillance. It uses laboratory based data, complemented by ward level surveillance and links to the hospital information system, thus incorporating alert organisms (eg. MRSA) detected by the laboratory, alert conditions (eg. wound infection) detected by clinicians and alert admissions (eg. MRSA carrier) detected by the hospital information system, into a single, easy to use database.
